Hi everyone,
Thought I'd get your opinions on my latest purchase, a small Willow Leaf Ficus bought off of eBay. I think it's got a good start, but it's planted too high. I kind of like the roots that show on the front, and I feel that after some time they will all fuse together, creating a "melted" base. Anyone have any comments?

nice base but i would cut most of those roots back so that you get a nicer flare and replant at that depth, i would also trunk chop low again ( at the right time) to make a better tapered tree unless you are satified with its current look, height etc? They make amazing trees large and small. I have 3 shohin in these and one large one over 70cm tall. They are my favorite ficus for trunks , leaves especially that reddish new growth.

Thanks Matthew! Good thinking about cutting back those roots. I should definitely do that as well as plant it deeper. I'm
kind of satisfied with the taper, but I will definitely think about chopping it back. Good advice, thanks!
I too love these guys. I've got several that could fit into the shohin category, but they're still works in progress. One day...
