If you styled with sine wave bends like these have you would be howled down... don't you love it when nature ignores the bonsai rulebook

I could be wrong, and am taking a punt on a grainy hand held image, but I think these are Moonah trees (Melaleuca lanceolata). Coastal ti tree would be in the area too. The ancient trunks don't look riveted enough for Coastal Ti tree. Love this part of the world and thanks for posting. Worth the drive into the National Golf Club to see the Moonahs that feature in the golf hole on the right of the road (the 16th). These trees are often centuries old. Apologies if they are ti tree.


The closest thing I've seen in bonsai was the Mel forest at the Bonsai NW show last year. It really captured the 'leggy then canopy' feel on the Peninsula.

I don't think the rules are an issue here Matt, just having someone who has the skill to take the time to put the compilation together. I fear I have neither the time nor the skill

Biggest wow moment I've had at a show and would love to know more from the owner. I have some Melaleuca howena seedlings about 20 years away!

I remember this one now Soda. It is VERY good.
Two things come to mind. It reminds me more of larger trees, say on the coast of Rottenest island, than the scrubbier trees that tend to merge into one.

To represent what I see in these "Tea trees" posted by DB I might change to a more spreading pot and dense it up with more trees at the back and jion the foliage a little more.
