Good to see the process of finding the bonsai inside the chaos so clearly set out. Stupid question (and none of my business), but why do they all need to come out at once? Why not some this year, some next year, over the next ten years?

Hi alpineart,

I think the one in the hex-pot has a lot of potential. I like it best. You know what sort of flowers it bears yet?

Some of mine have been forming flower buds ready for the Winter blossom. Did you cut off a lot of flower buds on these too? I am not sure of the effects that would have on the trees?

Best regards.

Hi Daiviet , most are pinks , reds , some are 2 tones pinks and a couple of whites .Don't know which is which , they are Karume , Indica and Satsuki .I have trimmed these every year after flowering with hedge trimmers , these were trimmed back 30% about 8 weeks ago , very few buds were present when clipped some had flowers as mother nature was a little confused, some flowered in Early summer but the heat burnt them off.

The plant in the hex pot is a little out of the ordinary . Some of the deadwood is actually the main roots that could not penetrate the shale , the root mass was very small , the ex mother in law must have planted that one . The first flowering will tell which is which , i have found some of the original labels , now they are in the pots .

Cheers Alpine
