Just got back from the local Batehaven nursery, after having a good look around and deciding that I did not want to spend every cent I currently have on about two dozen really beautiful plants that just had 'BONSAI ME' written all over them, I chose 3 that I though would 1: give me a challenge, 2: allow me to make a couple of mistakes, 3: allow me to learn from those mistakes .

Murraya paniculata Dwarf
Grevillea lanigera prostrate
Grevillea juniperina 'New Blood'

Any comments on type of bonsai, etc etc etc would be greatly welcomed. I want to hear what you think!

Well Evening congrats on your new house you will be getting soon, I love moving into a new place they have a completely different energy to an old house .
I have had some ideas for the 'New Blood' Grevillea .... Kengai (Cascade style) as it is already hanging over the edge of the pot by 20 cms. As well as the Murraya paniculata Dwarf I have thought either Shakan (Slanting style) or Moyogi (Informal upright style). still working on some designs

Very cool, you can employ some of those jewellery skills to draw up some nice concepts. Question; do you plan to re-pot? If so, when and into what with which soils?

I plan to do everything I can find out about, utilising my Horticultural knowledge, and also my knowledge of metal manipulation to assist with my Bonsai work. So yes re-potting, and even doing away with pots and utilising more 'nature based' styles of plant Bonsai. I have never really worked with wood as a medium, so everything I learn from now on is all new and will be a part of my future Jewellery design as well. I intend to experiment with soils, as most plants have different Ph lvls, and nutrient styles.
