[Sell / Trade] old wisteria

this tree was rescued from an old property in ferntree gully (vic) in 2003 and we estimated that it was planted in the 60's or 70's. it is an unusual dark bark species that i have not been able to identify nor have a number of other horticulturalists. it flowered for the first time in spring 2011 (an excruciating wait for me), and having seen this it is time for me to move it on to a new owner and begin some new projects. i am willing to accept cash offers for this plant (i figure it is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it), but as my aim is to get some new projects going i am interested in trading it for ficus or elm's of any size. i am also chasing a very large bonsai pot > 70cm long and 15 cm high
so make me an offer. inspections welcome in box hill victoria

if you have any ideas on how to send it in a safe manner i would be happy to consider postage, with the buyer to pay costs. just remember that wisteria is an easily damaged plant

It is most likely to be Wisteria floribunda 'Kuchi Beni', japanese wisteria often do not flower in a landscape due to incorrect pruning. Beautiful variety & nice looking trunk, good luck with the sale.

I would love that sort of material, the sort that have a great story behind them. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able get more trees at the moment due to lack of money, and also of space. I would however, just like to contribute my experience. Last year I bought a wisteria on eBay for about $2.15, it currently resides in a large, cheap pale blue ceramic pot. The seller put it in a large cardboard box, and made sure that the branches were secure by filling it with shredded paper and wrapping the branches with a loose covering of newspaper. It arrived in perfect condition and flowered too! I hope this will help if you're planning to post it to a buyer, and I hope the best for your tree! Good luck!

*I probably should have mentioned that it was posted bare rooted, so it consumed less space*

MattA i havent heard of that variety of floribunda, if you have details on that variety it would be great, thanks.
and thanks coocarch for those postage details but i dont think it would work in this case, it takes two people just to lift it. i was thinking it could be fixed onto a pallet and then place a box over the top ? but i think that would be an expensive proposition.
also i realise that these size bonsai can be expensive, but given i am selling to enthusiasts in this club it will be significantly cheeper than if it were sold publicly. i am also willing to accept repayment terms. my only request is that the buyer send me photos periodically so i can see how it progresses in another artists hands

Sad but true, the easiest place to find it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisteria_floribunda
#2 'Carnea' - correct name is Kuchibeni - pink flowers

In reality the colour can vary from almost white to strong pinks depending on the soil it is grown in, what sets it apart is the darker patch on the upper petal giving a hooded appearance. Raceme length is a fairly consistent 18" which also fits your tree.

If you were closer I would offer you a trade, its not a cultivar I have yet ;)
