That maple has much the same colour bark and all as the amazing one I posted on the other Autumn thread
Any ideas why you can't get this colour in your Bonsai?

I have mentioned before that i do not get very good colour on my trees where I live here. The only tree that reliably gives colour is my Pin Oak
The branches are hard to bend after they grow a bit thick ( they keep springing back, the leaves do not reduce much at all ( though I have not tried too hard yet), and the branches have long internodes.
A generally difficult tree, and will be suited to larger sizes if you wan to try, but jeez they have noce colour

My chinese quince is just starting to colour up, I fear it will not last very long because it is so wet.
