Scientific name: Ficus obliqua 'Obliqua'

Common name: Qld small leaf fig

In training: 10 - 11 months

Hight: 58cm Width: 63cm Base: 20cm across

This tree was collected in July 2010 in Elliot Heads Qld. It was growing on the trunk of a old date palm and had been hacked back several times over the years. When I collected it, I cut it back to the main trunk, and removed most of the roots. I potted it into this pot in August 2011, defoliated, removed unwanted growth and did the first wiring. Trimmed and rewired it again in January 2012 gave a bit of a clean up again today. I have plenty of time to find a suitable pot for it. I like to develop a lot more aireal roots from the trunk to fill in some of the gaps.

I like it chris .... it is hard to find nursery plant with such character in the trunk like this. Some of my favourite figs in my collection were growing on host trees just like yours. What you have done with your tree in such a short time needs to be recognised. you can allready see great shape in the tree and if that was achieved in such a short time I would love to see were you go with it in the next couple of growing seasons..... Keep us posted :tu:
