[ANBITA] Carissa ovata
Posted: June 19th, 2012, 2:09 am
Scientific name: Carissa ovata
Common name: Currant bush
In training: 10 -11 months
Hight: 60cm Width: 65cm Depth: 70cm Base: 11cm across
Style: Clump style
This tree was collected in December 2010 from my back paddock at Glendale Qld. It grows fairly quickly and I did the first styling in August 2011 and tidied it up a bit today.
The Carissa ovata is wide spread and very common, in most cases farmers consider it a pest. Its a small shrub to medium growing to about 1.5m high but can spread to about 6m wide. It gets small white flowers and dark nearly black fruit which are edible. I have never seen one bonsai before and all of its attributes lends it to bonsai. The only down side is, it does have thorns. a couple of more views a view of the trunks the flowers
the fruit
