Is that slag from a furnace Matt? I dig that stuff up at home sometimes.

It is a sedimentary stone with a high iron content, the yellow areas were underground, the red is oxidized from contact with air. Many are hollow or filled with a rich red oxide powder, I am keen to experiment with it as a colourant on some of my pots.

Very lovely rock Matt. It makes a good surface dressing also if it is available in the small pebbles.
