Hi Guys,
i'm heading to New York for a couple of weeks on friday and while i'm there i plan to grab some japanese made tools as they are about 2/3 the price of those avialable in australia. But i'm unsure of what sizes to select. i already have a pair of pruning shears, so i'm looking to get a concave branch cutter and some quality wire cutters.
i'm a complete beginner and hobbyist (12 trees), so what do people recommend? at the moment i'm looking at 6 or 8 inch tools.
any advice appreciated.

If the trees aren't huge I think 8" or 210mm are the best size. You can use them on smaller size trees as well

I think the ones you will get for 2/3 less than you can buy in Australia will not be Japanese. Our Dollar is stronger than theirs at the moment and a tool that is $60-00 AU will be $62-00 Us .
I have a regular News letter from Stone lantern and one was sent yesterday. The tools in that were not 2/3 cheaper they were the same price in some cases dearer.
As Bhodi says support your Local dealer, because if they go out of business you will be paying more.
Cheers Pup

thanks for the kick in the pants guys,
i expanded my internet search to include internet suppliers and found a plethora of sites for supplies I hadn't seen before. that sounds stupid but I try not to buy on the internet as i've been stung a few times before (not on bonsai, just generally), so i just swore off it. so i usually try to do it the old fashioned away.
anyway, the prices are comparable and i wont have to lug them back from the other side of the planet. so i'll give it another go.
