Azalea air layer

A while back some one asked about air layering Azaleas. I have looked but could not find the thread, so I thought to post this.

Here are the Donor and the results, the azalea is a Karume and the name is Jill Seymour. This air layer was done about 12 years ago, both are due for re pot this season.

As you can see junior is a bit behind Mum at the moment. There are a lot of old leaves, the yellow ones.

I used the ring bark method, in the warmer months after flowering. It took 4 and a half months. Well thats how long I waited, to be sure.
