hey guys

i was given these 2 trees at work today they were dumped on the side of the road at work and one of the maintenance guys picked them up and asked if i wanted them

i said ok

so i think the first is a umbrella tree?
and the second is some kind of cypress?

i cut the cypress down from around 1.5m to around 700mm
the umbrella i didnt touch i remember someone saying that umbrella make good ROR?
it is very flexible so i want to do some big bends if it kicks on
the cypress i was wondering if i should cut it down even lower? would it give it a better chance of surviving if i did?

any help would be fantastic!!

Hard to tell without close ups of the foliage but I believe the conifer could be a Juniperus chinensis 'Keteleeri'.

It is probably one of the "Pencil Pines" Not actually a pine but a Cypress, cupressus sempervirens of which tere are many cultivars including Pyramidalis, Totem, Stricta, Swaines Golden, Nitsches Needle and Gracilis. Can be somewhat hard to keep controlled long term because of the strong, upright growth, but good for practise. The first one is a dwarf umbrella, the leaves will always stay small. Good luck with them.
