Collected this on tuesday from my elm patch it was the biggest one there an had to bring it home got it passed the wife to i left it tall as i was running out of time so ill just let it shoot an recover an cut it down abit next year

Hi Olivecrazy , that.s a nice trunk and a very nice base to start with . I need to do some serious work to mine as it was eaten by an unknown pest which ring barked the main branches loosing most of the ramification of 15 plus years . Imight have to go back to a naked trunk like this .

Been busy today got the saw out an cut this one down a bit great improvement i think i wired the new leader to stop the wind snapping them

3 weeks on an this elm is flying the growth is very fast an its now on its second lot of wire been watering every day an using powerfeed every 2-3 weeks will try to get all branches in place this season then use sacrifice branches to fatten them up

Wired a few more branches on this elm been giving it a good feed every 2 weeks an been watering well cant wait till next year

Hey what's going on?... That's not an olive!

Been busy today really starting to like Chinese elms a lot right now able to work them every week. Had to train new leaders as the others where getting battered by wind an didn't want to take the chance of them snapping.
Re-wired the tree an gave a light trim its coming a long well starting some finer work on the lower right branch which is great going to need thinner wire soon tho

This trees has come a long way first picture is from 10 weeks ago an the the other was yesterday. Im able to re-wire this tree weekly as it grows very fast any longer an the wire starts to cut into the branches still a lot of growing time this season be interesting to see how far it gets by winter

Going to be a twin trunk it at its finished height now but will grow the tops up a lot more to get some thickness into them. Plan to place into bonsai pot next spring along with some carving to the lower left trunk to deal with the large cut marks

this tree has came along way in 4mths re-worked it today big job on this big elm about 3 hrs work it had grown a lot an was in need of a trim

Great looking tree olive, even more so in the future I would imagine.

I do feel sorry for your back working on such large trees, do you hire a crane to repot?

You are getting great growth in all you trees mate, not just this weedy old Elm, , but all you Olives as well. It goes to prove that we should all be trying to grow the trees local to our area and leave the other stuff for those who live in the areas they grow well in. Having said that I know a bloke who grew JBP's in Darwin, or tried to, ( ) so we will never learn. No better place in Australia to grow Elms or Olives than Adel's I reckon.
