Being that it's a linarifolia "Claret Top" I would pick something else that harmonises with the new red growth. I have one in a pot with a glaze similar to Penny's MFG glaze. It has greens, pinks and browns in it and seem to match the tree really well.

I prefer the round one. The square feels a bit big and blocky for that tree.

What type of pot is the one in the second last photo? I like it and they are hard to come by..

Ive also been trying to find slabs or "cliff looking" pots for pines n juni.. any suggestions?

Yeah don't think any of these are good for this tree. I think I'll look for a pot to suit. I'm thinking a similar edge profile, but smaller and oval rather then round.

I found this pot at a bonsai nursery in Oxley, Brisbane. The owners name is Robin and he has quite a few pots to choose from. I think I'll save it for a small forest planting maybe.

Something like the first rounder pot but lighter and a bit shallower? Something that picks up the lighter bark colour..

G,day Sam I have read this post and Craig's comment on a smaller lighter pot got me thinking about one of my M, claret tops.

This might be what he meant, I am biased ( cos its mine) I think he is right.

Here is a pic if you don't mind,

if you do tell a mod and they will get rid of it.

Cheers Pup

No worries at all Pup, nice pot. Did you make it your self ?
Great earthy color, looks like oka. "Love the free form lip too."
I've heard of people having troubles with Aus natives in such shallow pots.
Has this ever been a problem for you ?

Cheers,
Sam
