Hi allMy Daughter is now 13 and has been semi interested in Bonsai for ages now ( but typical teenager gets easily distracted
a few years ago while we were at Rays nursery she was pestering me again ( like usual ) for a tree "for her"
We picked up a littl TB fig and small pot so she can have her own "bonsai"
Got home, root pruned, potted it up, trimmed and wired. That was in 2008.
Every no and again she will remeber it and come and do something to it and it pretty much lives on the bench geting watered and fed witah all my other trees.
Today we were lookin around and I told her it needs to be wired and trimmed ( a bit early and cold at the moment, but most of my figs have new growth already
)Showed her how to choose wire and how to apply, Helped with the fist few branches, and she did the last one herself
The main reason for posting is to show the lack of growth and girth obtained with a tree in a even slightly oversized Bonsai pot!, although also just to show young ones can learn when interested:-)
