Purchased two Wisterias in July last year bare rooted on Ebay and potted each into 10" pots.
Both gave me flowers.

Decided to re-pot one into a pot suitable for indoor display when in flower. Would have liked a shallower pot but with the substantial roots I settled for something deeper ... but I really had to cut some roots.

So do you think I have cut too much, then how do I get nice fibrous roots for a future shallower pot ? and of course will this fellow survive. (it had 3 days in seasol and 5 in the shade).

Kept the other Wisteria as is, not re-potted for comparison.

Survive????? It will thrive. Don't be too eager to put it into a shallow pot. They do much better in a deep pot, lots of water and full sun will give you plenty of blooms if you have the correct species for your area. Do you know the variety?

No worries with it recovering, they should bounce back well
As hack says, deeper pot is OK as they love water and really only shown for the flowers, so you can get away with a deep pot

ps I repotted one of mine yeaterday so hope it flowers this yer still. It has heaps of buds on it

Best one you can have for Sydney's climate. Flowers profusely.

Here growing like mad in September For weeks after not the slightest sign of any flowers ( they both flowered last year)

And after all the flowers on neighborhood Wisterias had died off I had given up and told my wife (within earshot of the Wisterias}
"these B things are not going to flower - they are going down the back yard and I don't care what becomes of them"
I planted a kick right to the midsection of the big one the took my cutters and cut back the branches.

And ... about a week later this is what I got flowers.

Wife has just sent me outside outside to give them another boot.

The flowers have come at the ends of new branches that shot from the cut branches - flowers are not robust and no flowers yet on the 'smaller' tree. No flowers on any of the September growth.

Unless advised otherwise I will keep up the pressure

What is happening is that you are forcing next years dormant flower buds to grow by cutting back hard. It is usually a good indication that next year will be a good one for flowers.
