[ID] Unknown stump

Hey bonsai folks...I dug this up a few weeks ago from the side of the house. I thought it was a sandpaper fig but the new growth doesn't have the rough texture. Anyone know what it is?

it looks like a celtis sinensis or a hibiscus??

95% sure it is Celtis, thet are everywhere in Brisbane. :cool: They are excellent Bonsai material.

Yep. 100% Chinese Hackberry - Celtis.

Agree with Hackimoto & kvan64

I'd say with a high degree of certainty you have a celtis stump, they are very fast growers and nearly impossible to kill.

Yip it is a Celtis. Here in South Africa our Celtis Africana looks just like that . :tu:
