This is another Melaleuca incana bought as reduced stock as it was root bound and neglected $ 4.50. I had no idea what to do so I just started cutting.

Then the windblown popped up as it does, note windblown and not swept. Then as it started to grow I decided to change the pot for a piece of natural rock.

I picked this up in south Australia in 2000. Told it is Woomera rock, so today was the day to put it all together.
The height of the tree is 200mm from the lowest point of the rock. Which has two viewing angles like the tree, I hope this is what you like to see, from pot to where it is now.

Now that is cool ,it looks like the wind is about to pick up the whole lot and blow it away.I wonder if the rock is radio active. Thank you for sharing.

Love it Pup, looks great on the rock. I have three incana on the go at the moment from the same place. When did you start yours?

Nice prgreesion there pup, thanks for sharing. I like it when people show pictures from start to finish, it gives you some idea of the road travelled to get to the finished tree (which is fantastic by the way). I hate just seeing a completed tree having no idea how it got to be like it is.

G,day Izzy this was started on the 4th of July this year.
Hiya Josh one of my biggest problems is OH Bugger, I forgot the camera, then it is finished.

So this time I made a concerted effort to record what I did, it still appears that not to many appreciate it though.

I have a few root bound mels which your remind me of. You have inspired me to stop ignoring them as I don't know what to do with them and find the tree within

About 15 yrs ago my cousin played around with bonsai for a while. He grow 2 natives, every one told him you can't bonsai natives, but he did. Ever since then native bonsai have fasinated me. We spend so much time studying japanese bonsai techniques and yet we should be developing our own native Australia technique/style. Exotics get a bigger response I think cause that is what people are used to, natives are still un known to a certain degree. The more people growing them the better.

This is the tree today and you can see it has powered along, I have been pinching back new buds almost daily. You can also see back budding along the branches/ trunks.
The right stock and you have a tree that is worth while in a short period of time. Natives.

Any update on this one Pup? Also do you know if M,incana handle being bent past parallel? I've lost some branches on one and I'm lost trying to work out why....

Now that is a problem seeing as they are weeping type trees, I have found them to be a little on the soft side, when wiring and this can lead to breakage.

Resulting in the branch dying and not showing up straight away. Mine at the moment is in need of rewiring as it was cutting in. When it cools off and I can get something other than watering done, I will.

I am told Woomera, when I was in SA in 2000 we visited some very good friends children, and I was given this after I made a comment about it.

So maybe you can take a test drive out that way and find some just watch for the other lunatics.
