Hey all just wondering if its "normal" for my elm to be completely dormant and leafless a few weeks back then basically overnight start budding all over and then start to mature and again basically overnight all new leaves brown off and state falling?? Just unsure if this is normal traits because it didn't do this last year

G'day mate, if you can plse post a picture of said tree then it will be alot easier to say what is happening. How can one tell if one can't see the problem

hey all sorry for the long time since original post to reply but had a few things come up of late. my elm is looking much better now i think it was just the local weather at the time and placement and maybe a little lack of water to compensate for the hot days weve been having but i have fixed that problem now and my tree is pushing out quite alot of healthy leaves now

Harry, do you mind expanding on that? I'm curious. Why spray with a systemic and not water with it?
Cheers,
Andrew

I've been hearing for a while now about how Chinese elms don't like systemic pesticides yet I use systemic (Confidor) on mine all the time without any complications. Maybe I'm just lucky; maybe I should add this to the
Bonsai Myth Busters thread.
