My new black pine

I acquired this Japanese black pine from a grower a month or 2 ago. It had been ground grown at some stage. I was told it was 20 year old material. I repotted it as soon as I got it.

Will do a yearly progression on this tree.

Lovely movement in the trunk there then it gets lost in the foliage at the top. Looks like the branching is quite recent so you will be able to move to where you like it.
Going to be real nice as it gets worked on and developed

What will you do about the soil first off? Take some? most? all? What will you consider potting into?

Very nice material. A perfect time for root work and repotting and getting the tree healthy. It will be a ripper in ten years or so.

Gavin, I took all of the soil out and replaced it with diatomite, perlite, bark chips and gravel chips. The original soil was just bad. I took a pic of it when I was potting:
