Crape Myrtle - can I root prune now before bud swell?

Hi all
I purchased a crape myrtle recently and the buds are just starting to be seen but not what you'd call swelling yet. I see on the Auswiki "When should I..." that deciduous can be root pruned now - can anyone verify that CM are good to go with a root prune now as well?
Cheers
Stewart

Yes indeed Stewart. Now is a great time. They can also be done late spring defoliated and in late summer/early autumn.

The big T is right, I have done all of mine but 1. Root prune will set them back a little but don't worry, just keep an eye on them. Last year I had one bare rooted stock that did not bud until November.

As an aside, I checked mine that i collected a few months ago and they are just shooting now.
If you have not done yours by now you will have to do so this weekend as they are moving now

Hey Ken,
I checked the crepe myrtle you helped me dig a few months ago. Sorry I haven't posted any pictures, but that family of mine lost the camera
The tree with puff-pastry died, so did the windswept looking one and the small clump style one. I think all that's left is the crepe myrtle
My question is: how long should I expect the crepe myrtle to re-shoot?
Regards, Steve

One of mine has just gotten tiny shoots now, but the other 3 have not yet.
Dependig on your environment locally might still baa few weeks. Give the thumbnail scarpe tes to se if there is green under the bark to confirm
Re the trees, One of the Geebungs Is throwing new shoots but the other (thinner one) looks like not shooting. Will wait a another month or so before confirming. All the others are good tho
