Hi guys im looking for some ideas and inspiration (pics) from ppl on a way to get large pots (about 800mmx500mm) off the ground and display them in the garden.
Every stand i seem to find that someone has built is for alot smaller bonsai..
At the moment they are sitting on the ground and i have been told they are in the way
it would also make life abit easier for working on them..

Hey there,

You could visit a nursery as they often sell large tables for large bonsai. They're normally round and elaborately decorated, all seem to be in the same style.

I've also seen several stands made of bricks, stone or other building materials such as blue stone. Basically just pile em up and put something on top.

Goes without saying, the latter is the cheaper option. Ultimately though, I would prefer a plain stand so as not to draw attention away from the tree.

I use Besser blocks to get mine off the ground. Only about $2 each from the Big b
They will also have concrete slabs or timber to build a top between 2 block stacks.

Lay the first one on Flat ground and then you can stack them easily without Mortar.
They can be painted to suit your environment too so the look much better.

Besser blocks, or hebel (lighter but more expensive) are the way to go. A square stand 80 cm across uses 6 besser blocks per layer. If you glue them together you can render them. Add oxide to the render to make the colour you want. The display stands at thè national colection are besser blocks stacked, no glue. Put 400 square pavers on top. Render the gap in the pavers to keep the water out of the blocks.

Monkey poles are a lighter look. Depends what look you want.
