I posted this pine back in 2010 in the PK pot ,which looking back was under potted. Today I changed the pot and I think it makes the tree look better.

The tree was ground grown by me back in the 90s.In 2003 I sold it and many others to various locals. This one plus a few others came back because the owner was getting out of Bonsai.

Its hight is 380mm

Totally agree, the PK pot did not do your lovely tree justice (this is so unusual I am a huge fan of pats pots) I have a very similar pot and hoping to pot a banksia into this summer.

You have also worked and developed your black pine in the last two years.

The change is great. I thing the tree pot combination is much better. The PK pot was too small, and made the tree look unstable, and with the added foliage volume, I think that would have been even more of a problem! Godd job on the tree too mate - its coming along nicely!

Wow, this tree looks great in the new pot and now it has filled out. I think this tree has inspired me to aim for something similar with a pine i have yet to decide on.
Will be watching for updates on this one for sure.

I did some work on this tree on the weekend with the thought of adding some interest by using foliage to cover parts of the trunk line. As you can see from the last pic I have moved some branching forward, which softens the tree. I am yet to do the finer wiring and needle plucking. Also I am not happy with the positioning in the pot so I did a vert of it moved sightly to the left.

Coming along really nicely Peter!

I think the change in planting position would suit the tree well as does the foliage relocation.

It looks to have thickened over the few years and as it thickens into the future it make the tree more and more powerful.

Not to throw this thread off track like the last, but did you ever get your that 4AGZE into the 1200?

Really, really nice tree Peter. I love the movement of the trunk & the branch structure is superb.

Interesting that the initial trunk movement is to the left, the first branch is to the left and the apex moves to the right.
You have managed to break a few rules and come up with a nicely balanced result, well done!
