Hi all

went to the local nursery recently and found a lovely bare tree titled as above. I think it has promise and the salix as a willow has been bonsaied but a search of this variety on Ausbonsai comes up nil..

Any thoughts people? there are plenty of other plants there i would buy though...

Cheers

Stew

Hey Stew,
I was going to say never heard of it until I did a google search. I think its the same as what I brought from Ray Nesci as Variegated dwarf pussywillow, it was a small starter that has grown well in the garden, it likes lots of water and strikes from cuttings really easy (hardwood & semihardwood). From the growth so far I think it will take more than a few years to get a trunk of any real thickness but would be great for shohin. Found this in the search thought it might be helpful http://www.midwestgardentips.com/hakuro ... illow.html

With more sun the white is more pronounced and so is the red of the new growth. They have a long way to go but I think they will make interesting bonsai subjects with a few more years growing.
