I found this growing in my garden sometime ago and have no idea what it is, it seems to have small leaves perfect for bonsai. The leaves are slightly hairy if that helps.

Does it get to tree size? If not with a furry leaf it could be Iboza riparia or nutmeg bush, the other possibility is a species of Plectranthus. Doesn't quite look right to be a Celtis to me. Neither of which I would think would be suitable for Bonsai :imo: A pic of a flower would be good for I.D.

Yeah I initially thought celtis, but its definitely not one. Thanks for the quick reply, I haven't noticed any flowers yet. If they are those species why don't you think they are suitable for bonsai? they have perfectly small leaves and looks like I can get good ramification on this guy. But for now I'm going to let him grow.

Just looked up Iboza riparia or nutmeg bush, I don't think that's the species, since It apears to be hardwood, and the leave structure is different. Are there perhaps celtis species with round leaves? But then again the tree didn't loose its leaves over the winter. This one really confuses me

it may very well be lantala, the flowers look familiar, I cant say I know it does grow in my area. But this is the closesed match to the plant ive seen, tnx for your help. I guess I just have to wait a few years and see if it flowers. Lalantla looks like it will make a great bonsai

it could be a Grewia commonly known as lavender star if it has a purple star shape flower.

Almost guarantee it is Lantana. Are the leaves smooth or Rough and sandpapery?
Wait until it flowers to work out which variety it actually is.
