Hi Meagi , mate that better than working a stick in a pot . With such a straight trunk i would release the top wire and try to get the ziz zag movement happening with out the curve utilizing the leader you have it would be quite easy , possibly wire the section from the cut up more towards 45 degrees rather than the about 90 degrees it is now then add another bend in the opposite direction into the upper section of the main leader or choose another smaller leader to continue the same movement . Give it a season or two and it will thicken and ramify into a nice trunk line .

Cheers Alpineart

Nice trunk but like alpine says, too tight on that bend up top.

if the lower ones are 45Deg bends, then the rest should be similar too to keep the feeling and flow thru the tree.

I wodu also trim back the long whispy growth on the ends of the branching. The will promote back budding further down and give many more options

I remember this one going up for sale. should have jumped at it (he says kicking himself).
How would it respond to a another big cut with the view to an informal broom style?
