This weekend i attempted to make my first stand out or a square piece of QLD maple, i used a blow torch and wire brush on the edges and to give a bit more feature on the top face. This one has been a learning exercise as i have quite a bit of wood to make more.
Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark,

For me, the edge and the feet look very convincing. I like it.

What finish did you use please? The colour changed so much. It almost looks like a Jarrah or Kari.

Best regards.

Thanks for all the good feedback, i used a walnut stain with a type of resin finish coat and it measures 380L x 320W mm. QLD maple has a pinky sort of colour to it and unless you use black it always seems to end up with a rich red in it. I have a nice piece of silky oak which will be my next one and it is beautiful wood to work with as it is so easy to use hand tools on. Thanks again,
Mark
