Ulmus Procera -English Elm Forest

This was put together quite a few years ago .I stripped the old branches off after the first year of developing the roots and have tinkered with it over several seasons . After taking it along to the A/W Club meeting i decided it needed a good trim and a little fine tuning .

Taking on board the idea's thrown around at the meeting instead of rotating the whole composition i have adjusted the tree's slightly .

Now all i have to do i concentrate on pinching it regularly .I have given it a bit more growing medium and its onto the next project .

Hi Bodhi , glad to see you like it

. Its getting a bit too heavy for me unfortunately . The slab itself is 700mm wide at the rear and the tallest tree is close to 800mm high. .

Hi Alpine,
Thats looking pretty good
I'm heading up your way next weekend to have a look at some property & if its getting a little to heavy for you I'd be very happy to take it of your hands in exchange for a pot or two that I have hanging around down here

There were 7 trees, now there are 6.....

Not a good bonsai number.
I miss the small one, which gave contrast, and also liked having the tallest treer further off the middle. The present planting is uh.... a bit boring. Sorry!

Not sure what drugs you are taking Lisa - I count 9 trees. And I think it looks better re arranged Ian - top job

Good material Ian, but the four trees on the right look identically spaced apart from the photo. I will come over next weekend and offer a critique.
Edit,- just realized I was referring to the first photo. the second photo is a much improved placement.

Hi Fiveoffive , mate the discussion at the meeting got me moving things around .I looked long and hard to re-arrange it slightly but to maintain the best feature of the granite slab , even though the talk was about it not being part of the equation , i prefer a moving edge in a slab to give added depth . Each to his own , and yes i learned a lot last week .

Certainly more than 6 trees in those pictures!
Great work Alpine..
I'm such a sucker for a good forest! Big fan of the English Elm as well.
Unfortunately I don't have any forests in my collection but that will change soon - no doubt!
Cheers,
