Hey everyone

I need some of the ausbonsai experts to give me an ID on this little darlin
Its a tree and it has a white flower that comes out in a row with a very nice scent to it.

Probably Robinia pseudoacacia "Frisia" Golden Honey locust or Golden Robinia.

You are welcome. The only problem as Bonsai would be the large compound leaf.

Most definitely a robinia.
This is grafted in nursery stock so make sure you don't get the under stock as it is green and has large thorns on it. Very ugly.

Thanks Chad. The one I plucked the leaves off was a Council tree and I didn't notice any thorns in the short time I inspected it but I will be sure to pay it another visit. It is right under my nose!

A compound leaf is a leaf divided up into many sub-leaflets. they are hard to manage in Bonsai because they tend to flop over each other and look messy. Most figs have a simple leaf, Jacaranda has a compound leaf. See below for better explanation.

What Chad was saying was that Frisia is a cultivar that is grown by grafting it onto a green root stock and as such will re shoot down low with green leaves and wicked thorns.

I have one dug up from my sisters house from a root sucker a few years ago. Still in a lager pot to develop the trunkl and then branching
Hack is correct re the compound leaves, although I think they will reduce in size quite a bit in a Bonsai pot. ( no too sure yet tho).

They will backbud on old wood,but seems for me never where I want them tho . On mine the large trunkchop scar is taking a long time to heal over .

From memory, They come out a pale green, then go yello in Autumn.
I will post a photo next week when I get home as it was only just leafing out when I left last week.
