'Convicts' Last Stand

Hi All

Hopefully this is the last stand that I will have to make for this tree for a long time. This is by far the biggest tree I have, and it is difficult to move, display and photograph. I wanted to get into more of my garden, so it was time to move this big boy.

Had a big day and got plenty done. Very happy with the new section and the pathway, and gets rid of another bench. Into the planting over the next couple of mornings as I am on afternoons this week.

Got tired just looking at the pictures :palm: A good result Tony and the setting looks great. As we get older those large ones get more difficult. I hope you are going to post the completed job. :tu:

Still a work in progress with the other half of the garden still to come. I am loving sitting in my backyard these days.

Hi Tony,

I like your garden very much. Are you planning to some water feature to it too?

The bridge was kind of narrow, did you ever feel the pot might tip over during the move? :)

We have to be very careful with our backs.

Regards.

Looking good Tony, we will have to compare garden notes next time you come up to Toowoomba. I have finished my display area as well, finally!!!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Daiviet. I did have a nervous moment at the start of moving the tree as it nearly overbalanced the original stand. You may notice I had to prop up the bridge with some extra bricks at the corner of the stand. Once it was on the sleeper it was fine as it was 1/3 the width of the pot. The water feature will be amongst the tsukabai arrangement I am creating in the corner of the garden. The stream will stay dry as it is cost prohibitive to set up this length of stream.

Look forward to seeing your garden Dutchie.

It is nice to see my trees displayed in the garden instead of in a greenhouse like they have been for the last 25 years. The kids are older now and we live in a cul-de-sac, so they have the front yard and the street to play in. The back yard is mine. For those wondering, my security measures are extensive.

That is a really beautiful design, Tony! It makes a big difference, displaying bonsai in a specially created environment of their own. I love looking at your great trees, too. Can't help wondering about the exposure: isn't that a lot of sun for Brisbane, or do you get shade from trees that are out of the picture? Or again, are your trees adapted to this kind of exposure?

All watered by hand Bebbas. Always get house sitters when away. Only those that know what they mean to me, also helps with the security. Family and friends are beautiful people. :hooray:

Thanks Lisa. All those photos are taken facing north except the one looking up the creek, which faces west. To the left of that photo are a couple of trees that provide some summer shade to some parts of the yard. This new section will get full sun for 8 - 10 hours depending on the time of year, and will mostly be for Figs and Conifers.
