I have a lot of Junipers growing into bushs but when you get to work on them you can create quite dramatic scenes. This is a windswept created from one of my stock trees. I am slowly going to work through them so i will add to this post. But this is first cab off the rack.

there is something funny going on here.
To me the bottom 2 branches are very different than the top 2, and seem to fight each other. Do you not think they shod all leave the trunk at a similar angle?

Hi Bodhi,
I know there is a lot of confusion about juniper names. This one does not look like J. chinensis to me but there was one with similar foliage to this under the same name at Canberra last weekend. It was generally agreed that it was likely misnamed and is more likely to be junperus procumbens 'nana'. How certain are you of the identity of this one you have posted?
Despite the uncertainty about names both species make really great bonsai very easily.

Hey Shibui, yes i know, there are so many out there that it is very easy to become confused

Does "Nana" come in a prostrata form would be the first indicator. These are definitely prostrate but they where named a while ago as these are 20 odd years old. In short i do not know and they were i.ded by an old friend (Tom Cockram) who i purchased these off. I have many and all are slightly different so it is going to take a Juniper expert to figure them out. Do we have one on board here

And yes, they are a easy subject to make into a Bonsai in a short time and every beginner should have one.
