[SOLVED] On a likely collect, some form of prostrate Juniper

I should get the all clear to collect this prostrate juniper(s). Any ideas on the type?

Hi Soda, I think that is Juniperus conferta, Shore Juniper. I haven't grown one in a long, long time. My memory tells me they were pretty weak, but so was I back then 8-) :D

You are right, it is Juniper conferta. I haven't seen one look ant good as Bonsai, its growth is a bit too floppy but you might be able to get something out of those older ones pictured. I've been thinking of grafting some onto some older stumps of another species and growing it as a semi cascade to accentuate the drooping foliage. Another similar one is Juniper taxifolia variety "lutchuensis" which is more compact and would be more suited to Bonsai I would think.
