My biggest dig ever - Monster Boug.

Took me, my uncle and the giver over a day to bring it from the garden to the pot(s).
I was told it is over 40 years old. The base was attacked by termites and is still wider than 70cm. I managed to borrow my uncle's 120cm bonsai pot (for a year, he said). After then I may have to find one or make my own pot out of timber. I did some initial trimming and even the chopped off pieces make big trees.

The previous owner said it covered most of his garden and he had to chop it off many times. We drove pass the house for months before I gathered the courage to knock on the door and asked. The guy replied: "I don't have the money to pay you to removed it". Well i'm not sure who did who a favour :)

Hi Kvan64 , mate there my kinda trunks . I have one here that was delivered with no roots and it took a couple of years to move . Without roots , rot set it and i lost 50%of the base . I don't know what your climate is like but good luck with them . They will one day be mighty fine monsters , and a worthy challenge for anyone .

Cheers Alpine

Awesome Stuff Kvan A little large for me but they will be crackers for you.

Do the smaller sections have and root at all or just large cuttings?

Great score Kvan, thats my kind of stump. :tu: you have gone to alot of effort to get it out & home, so, give it plenty of time to recover & rebuild a root system and then you will have a real cracker to play with.

Ken, I have struck bougy cuttings up to 6" thick at this time of year so I wouldnt be surprised if all those smaller pieces grow....

The big stump will be a wonderful project for you. It seems to sweep in one direction and if you can stay faithful to it natural flow it will be a real eyecatcher. You will need to find a humble looking pot for it as the tree will speak for itself. The borrowed one is to loud.

Thanks guys for sharing the cheers with me. It did take a lot of sweat to get there. I just have my finger crossed for the its future. Have done a few progressions with smaller trees with great success but not sure about this one.

Alpine, you've spoken my mind about rotting. I have seen how it affected my uncle's big bougs.
Ken, the smaller sections have little roots too but they should be ok
Bodhi, I'll keep you suggestions about the direction and pot in mind. You're right that the pot does not suit. Too shallow too.
