Hello and once again I turn to my Bonknowlogists for ID assistance

This was tree was saved just in time as an excavator was demolitioning all trees and bushes at the construction site

I had kept a watchful eye over 4 months and one day on my smoke break and as I turned around to my horror - it was all happening as I ran over to stop the carnage.

Several other species that I returned later that evening never made it and you can see the scars this tree has endured

It has beauful auburn red leaves in full flight.. id unknown.

.. ok so i dont think it is a maple

Specimen, it is a Maple, my guess without Googling or thinking too hard is Acer rubrum of which the cultivar October Glory is quite popular, might be that.

The leaves are big on this tree though the colours are are absolutely briliant and I will update.. if not suitable to the art then I'll ground him in the garden to enjoy

Acer ginnala? aka amur maple?

Or perhaps Acer saccharum? aka sugar maple?

maybe even one of the Acer negundo varieties?

... which begs the question and when one is confusicious, one must always go back to where it all starts ..

hmm maybe my suspicion is on track that it isn't a maple after all.. the leaves are too big yet again pumpkins and fruit nowadays are massively not normal so

on another note i have planted a trident in the ground to be permanently in the garden.. is it normal for it to have autumn-like aray of colours at this time of year?

Specimn, There are many maple species and some have quite big leaves. Most of the ones that have been suggested are large leaved varieties. Still a bit hard to tell from the immature leaves. Try posting some more pics with size reference when they have matured a bit. Acer rubrum has been a very popular garden tree for a few years now, has large leaves and is also my guess. 'Lipstick' is another of the recent A. rubrum varieties that has sold well.

New leaves on tridents are often reddish in spring but turn green as they mature. Tridents ARE tough as so would not be worrying..... yet.
