My latest microcarpa

Hey all,

Posted this last week, but must have gotten lost in the fix. Anyway, this is a microcarpa I picked up last week at a nursery just north of me. I really liked the base on it, which is the main reason I bought it.

Here it as when I first brought it home (poor picture, I know):

And here it is as of the other day after I gave it a chop and slip potted it into a slightly bigger pot:

It's amazing how fast the leader has grown and how much backbudding is occurring:

I use a combination of T8 and T5 lights. The T8s are usually pretty cheap, but the T5s can cost over $100. They only cost a few bucks a month to run.

Very happy tree and growth:

I'm considering drilling into those thick roots and creating several small holes in each. I would then fill with rooting hormone, stick a chopstick (or similar) in the hole, then cover with soil to create more roots.

Thanks Ken! My only fear is that I won't be able to keep the soil wet enough for new roots to sprout through the holes.... :lost:
