Went to the big green shed, came home with an Ozito

Mum's been asking what she can get me for christmas, so I went to the big green shed to have a look and came home an Ozito rotary tool (like a dremel).

It is certainly cheaper made than the dremel but with the 3 yr replacement warranty what the heck, worth a go. It'll only do the finer carving.

I then rang mum and said "thanks for the chrissy present, it's exactly what I wanted"
Now I just need to learn how to carve
Anyone used one of these before.
Josh
Ps. I did have a dremel but it died.

Hey Mate,
That is a good price! But like they say "you get what you pay for.." If these are anything like worksite tools the comparison is bleek!. Ozito's, kept in good condition & never overloaded, after a time FAIL. However a Makita, Dewalt, Panasonic will tolerate rough use and far more load for years longer.
I'm looking at trying my hand at carving too.. and that kit for the same price as a box of corona.. cant go wrong for a beginner!
Please let me know how it goes.
Happy Carving

It's got a three year replacement warranty. My dremel died without warning, no smoke, no smell, no sparks, just stopped. It was out of it's 2 year "limited" warranty but had only used it maybe 5 or 6 times. So I figured it cost around $160 at the time so that's 3 of these at $50 each and if it lasts 3 yrs (time of warranty) that's a total of 9 yrs for the same price, I'm in front.
I have the bigger router I posted earlier for the bigger carving and this is really only for detail work. I'm not doing a lot of carving at this stage so no need for the big dollars to be spent just yet.
I have a stump I need to carve that I'm sticking some eucy's on so when I get around to it I'll update how it goes. I like the fact it has the flexi shaft.

Nice score and you cannot go wrong for the price.
Get some good carving bits and take it easy not to overlooad
I have a dremel, 2nd one as the first failed as well outta warranty. Just plain dead

.
New one have had for about 2 years now so all good.
Grab some old sticks and bits of wood and play around.

I use this in all my carving, works a charm and mine's been treated worse than you'd believe.
Just don't let it overheat, seems to be the only problem with these things.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ken, I have the small bit from kaizen bonsai that I'll use in this one, plus a couple that came with it. I have a 9" grinder from Ozito that I use for carving the rocks out that I do and it seems to handle that ok. I know you get what you pay for but with a 3 yr warranty

As I mentioned this will be for detail work so shouldn't have any heavy loads really, (note to self, remember light and easy

)

Remember that just like any power tool you need to use some PPE (personal protective equipment) that means Glasses as a mimimum.
We all want to remain safe and in one piece.... you will be surprised just how easy it is to hurt yourself with one of those...
Those rotary bits are SHARP.
Have a good xmas......Be careful and enjoy your new tool.
