Just dug this guy out of the ground as the guy that owned the property was closing down his business.... And gee it's hot out there even early morning!! Measures about 170mm across at the base, have given it a good soak and will give it some seasol in the arvo.... Also put it in the shade! Well fingers crossed for this guy. Oh and the flowers are a bright red colour when in bloom.

Here is an update on this one that was dug about a year ago... seems to be powering along. I have given it a bit of a trim and pinch to see if I can get some buds on the older wood.... Has worked in some areas.
My initial thought was to use the existing first branch on the right. With a first foliage padre moving to the right... Or chop it but this would leave a big scar and I'm not keen to have the soft wood exposed ( even with wood hardener and lime sulphur).
The other option would be to use the image with the tree moving to the left.... Still undecided!!!
Any thoughts or opinions???

a couple of options you could take with this one, look forwards to seeing its progress

As bonsai sensation was saying a few days ago, it can take a looong time to grow good trunk and branching from a stump. There are beautiful lines in the reaching-out left trunk, that's the way I'd go, but would you consider ground-growing it for a few years to get the trunk continuing in a gradual taper from the present big cut? It takes longer but it might be worthwhile.
Good score, certainly.

Thanks for the suggestion... I might consider that as one of the new buds has just popped out right at the top end of the cut! Just need some ground to grow it in!!! (May have a yard soon but am in property limbo at the moment).... Will keep updating as it goes

For me I would not do to much at all. Ground growing is for building trunks and girth.

this now just a platform for the foliage
Just clean the new rampant growth and wire the shoots out flatter where you want them, and utilise the lovely trunk and what you have.
Build the branching and ramification to support a few foliage area so you can support lots of flowers and Brachts.

I keep looking at this one and my thoughts are that the base is better with the tree moving to the right, and I think future branching will work well for this option..... But possibly more movement in the trunk with it moving to the left, but long root is not the best... Doing my head in! Any thoughts / consensus out there? At least it's flowering!

Ive used a cut pot to cover the roots due to the new angle and a large root that will need to be reduced over time.
Stump orientation when first collected

Prefer the right as the trunk base looks nicer and more flowing into the main trunk
