Juniper from the garden

This Juniper was dug from my front yard shortly after we moved in 2003. It had been in the black pot since then.
I looked at it when I was booked in for a Peter Adams workshop but selected the spruce instead.
This year I have been encouraged by my wife to reduce the amount of stock trees. My idea of reducing is different to my wife’s.
This is one that has made it to a Bonsai pot ( not a stock plant anymore). There are still many years of styling ahead.
Regards,
Peter

Job done!
That has definitely been reduced and for the better!
Great work.

Very graceful and balanced - nicely judged. I don't usually like trees that go in two directions at once, but the trunk is so strong, it seems to me that it can balance the foliage well. Well imagined.
(Does that leave more space to buy something else?)

Hi Peter,
Very nice job, it was a tree worth keeping thats for sure, just wondering if you plan to thin the Jins further?

Yes Nathan. This is still in the rough stage and I will be looking at further work on the carving at a later time.

Looking great Peter!
Would you consider continuing the deadwood up the trunk to the dead branch in the apex?

Steven

Looking pretty good. Would you consider a front branch comming out somwhere below the apex?

I like where this guy is going. Got photos from different angles? And are there some nice roots hiding under the soil?
The texture of the jin and Shari is amazing! Did you carve it or use the dremmel?

Hi Steven,
Yes I still have to do a lot of work on the wood a have looked at the continuation to that dead branch.also the apex foliage needs to grow out more.

Need to grow the apex more to fill that area.

The roots are there ,hard to see against the soil. I use a Flexi shaft carving tool plus a high speed router.

Peter

Hi Peter,
Looking very good, worth the wait and will develop well in the near future.
Did you have an oops moment when reducing the jin, as it appears that you hit the trunk just above it

Black Knight
