My Bonsai Area

Well Areas,

When we moved into this house I wanted to have an area where I could have most of my bonsai on display as well as an area to be able to work on them and a grow on area.

I have finally established these areas, down the back I have a shed with a cupboard and draws to keep pots, wire etc and a awning to work under, which a decent sized stainless steel bench, I also have a decent area that is fenced off from the kids and the chickens which is my I will get to it soon / grow on area, which has an automatic watering system from a 5000lt rain water tank

I also have some shelving where I have some of my large in progress stock, most of these have had an initial style and are usually propped to a different angle to simulate the new potting angle that I will be hoping to achieve

Inside the pool fencing I have more stock this area also has a automated watering system for each pot.

In the courtyard I have a pond with some largish comets, and using traditional authentic Japanese display stands (NOT) eg milk crates for the time being I have most of my personal trees which I am slowly working on refining, this area also has a fully automated watering system.

These areas are working really well and it nice to finally have some areas to dedicate to Bonsai

Cheers

Nathan

Have just been madly racing around placing most of the trees undercover, they are predicting a large storm with hail and strong winds

I have over the past 10 days removed the wire from one of my JBP, Large Figs, Willow Leaf Fig and Lavender Star as they all has not received any attention of late as I have been a bit busy with setting up Brisbane Bonsai, I have now set aside a bit of time in the next two weeks to start to rewire them, back into their desired shape and style

So I have started on my wiring and styling mission

Today I completed my Lavender Star,I have had this tree for about 4 years, It has never been right for me, there was always something at each restyle that I did not like, then the other day when I was watering, it just hit me they way that the tree needed to be. I have spent about 5 hours in the last two days working on this tree, firstly removed all of the old wire, then removed about 4 branches, cut back all of the leaves by 3/4 and started wiring and then did some more wiring and then a bit more, styled each branch, finally a little carving to remove a couple of soft areas, little bit of lime sulphur and a totally different tree has emerged, one that I am pretty happy with.

That Lavender Star looks great so far, but has all the trimmings to make a really nice penjing flat cloud styled tree, if you were that way inclined. Great collection.
