Hi all,

The position of Curator of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia is being advertised as of now. See link below.

http://www.jobs.act.gov.au/site_search? ... ry=curator

It is a full time ACT public service position and is a position within the National Arboretum Canberra. It is currently supported with a part time assistant and a team of volunteers; plus the Arboretum team.

The current Interim Curator, Grant Bowie, will not be applying for the position for personal reasons but encourages anyone who feels they have the qualifications to apply.

SHOCK ! ! !
It's hard to believe that you will be leaving the management of the NBPCA, Grant, you've done so very, very much for it. Got it off the ground, developed it, took exemplary care of the bonsai entrusted to you, and helped prepare its future at the International Arboretum. Volunteers and visitors will sorely miss you, and we all hope you will be a frequent presence npnetheless, after your replacement has been found.
Thank you for everything!
Good wishes to you and Margaret, as well as to Leigh Taafe who has so ably assisted you. We hope he stays on!

Wow, that's a great looking package. Get to spend all day with some of the best bonsai in OZ and get paid for it.
I'd apply myself, but I'm missing the most important criteria. The rest is a doddle.
Are you going freelance Mr Bowie? :D

BIG shoes to fill!

Unfortunately I don't have a Van...

...but seriously, thanks Grant for all the work that you have put into the NBPCA. I imagine that it is not all beer and skittles dealing with the bureaucracy!

I agree with Scott about the shoes. Grant will be sorely missed. I would like to thank him for the job he has done so well since its inception. Plus all the efforts to get all the trees from around the country into one place.

My personal thanks mate from Pup and Mrs Pup. :tu:

No freelance;

I will still be helping as a volunteer and would like to work part time at the collection in the future.

Hi Scott,

working with the arboretum team and all the public servants to date has been a pleasure.

Without the support and funding of the ACT government the collection would not have happened at all.

Hi Pup,

Thanks for all your help.

You were the first to donate a tree to the collection once it was publicised; so a big thank you to you for being a trailblazer.

Grant,
I dont know anyone that can live up to your experience so this job would be difficult to fill after you step down. Thank you for your expertise and knowledge. I respect your work immensely.
