Had some spare time today so put together this group planting didnt touch the roots much not to bad to do this to young elm seedlings just wait for cooler weather place in the shade an mist daily dont seem to have many issues.
Wire just the trunks for now gave it a good drink of seasol in a few weeks should have some new shoots. Planing to cut it back a bit but will do this next spring ill let it grow for now

I am also finding that deciduous plants can be repotted in summer with few problems. I have just posted results of an experimental repot of trident maples on my website http://shibuibonsai.com.au/is-it-too-late-to-repot-my/. Still more work to be done to find the real extent of what can be done but its looking good for now.

just a comment on your group. the spacing looks a but regular. It is hard to get a good, random looking spacing between the trunks, especially when you can't cut lots of roots to get trees close together but well done for having a go.

Thats a good read myself i worked in a bonsai shop a long time ago an we repotted all yr round just avoided the really hot days an all trees went into a sheltered area misted daily. After care is the key thing here we did lose some but when u do 100s the odd one here an there wasnt worried about will say tho they where all young trees an where wired to shape at the same elms ash juniper procumbens etc.

With my group planting it was my 1st one ive tried to do in 15yrs wasnt till i took the picture that i noticed the spacings will try to adjust them late winter be doing some as they can be difficult to get looking right
