A little cotoneaster

I have had this lying around for a few years with the intention of getting back into bonsai this year. Every now and then i cut back the trunk and then let it grow out and repeat etc. Anyway after finishing with the ficus i looked over my bench and decided to see what lay beneath all the mass of brnaches and foliage. To my surprise i think this has the making of a very nice small tree. :fc:

Now to grow out that new leader before carving back the trunk to where the leader starts.

This looks like the start of what is become a very nice little tree.

I am curious to two opposing lower branches are you intending to use them as sacrifice branches or are you planning to incorporate them in the design?

cheers,

Jeff

yeah i havn't quite worked out what i will do with this yet so for now i will grow them at their different pad heights and see what happens later once i start to get the trunk to its final height and shape. I can always cut later but i can't put something back once i chop it :D

and it will help fatten the lower trunk. If i see e tunk start to bulge at the branch intersection then i will certainly chop one without hesitation.
