Hi everyone,

I've had this little juniper for around six months and have had very little to do with it other than the bit of deadwood work. It is by and large, a very uninteresting tree and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on where I could possibly take this tree in the future.





Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated,

Hi Jason,

At the moment the he first curve and right hand jin is opposed to the straight upper trunk and left hand foliage.
I think that if you wire the whole tree from base to top you could bring the top over the primary jin as shown in the picture attached. I would use two thick wires adjacent each other to spread the load and I would twist the crown around (probably anticlockwise when viewed from above) keeping the foliage upright, rather than bend it over left to right when viewed from the front.

Can one twist junipers? I was under the impression that the Cambium layer separates from the heartwood.

I see semi-cascade potential in there, but it may be best for now just to grow it on. It is a bit difficult to offer advice if you can't see the branch structure inside the mop of foliage. There's not much to work on there in terms of design.

I am now thinking that andrew after having a better look at the tree. There is no actual branch structure. It is most definatley going in the ground once it starts to cool down. Then I will grow it for a couple of years to see where that gets me.
I'm a little red faced after this. I should have looked a little harder before posting. My bad guys.

You can twist the bjeezums out of junipers... in the right season. Whether it goes in the ground or not consider wrapping in raffia and introducing some severe twisting into it. Right now it lacks character except for the postie-like jin...
