I know alot of people use the confidor spray but was wondering if anyone has success with using the tablets for treating black scale..Found alot of topics on the spray but not the tablets.Are there any differances between them (besides one being tablet and the other being a spray,assuming spray will be taken in quicker).do you need alot of tablets to be effective,do they last longer ie more of a slow release..

Reason for asking is Perth as you would all be aware has had alot of hot weather lately and ive noticed for the first time i have a few figs with scale on them.
I used lime sulphur during winter but now its the growing season and the heat is here im not to sure of using a spray during the heat..
Anyone out there got any ideas or suggestions on this

I would have to assume that the tablets would last longer. I have had customers use it with good results. Given that your problem is with figs, perhaps now might be an opportune time for a defoliation.??

yep already started...went to a nursery 5 min ago and they gave me a product to try called "eco-oil" which they said was a "greener" option and was a botanical based oil rather then petroleum..(didnt really meen alot to me..just wanted something that will work). they advised me try a oil to suffercate the scale which i thought was abit strange as i thought the scale ate the sap on the tree so by using the tablets or something systemic they would be taken up by the tree and kill the scale from the inside..
Can anyone explain this to me better..

There's many ways to skin a cat mate. Either you can kill scale systemically, or you can smother it (it needs to "breath"). Same end result with a bit of luck. Maybe try both of you have more than one affected plant and let us know which works better.

I didnt end up getting any confidor but i will give the "oil" method a go on my willow leaf fig.. see what the out come is.found some on a couple of olives as well.

My opinion is that confidor would have worked better in this case. I think a systemic for scale makes more sense.
