[ID] what am I?

Ugly looking clump with a little potential I purchased today..
A native as far as I am concerned but just not sure which one?
Please assist in filling in the species gap!
I'll then put this one up for a progression.
Thanks in advance.

My guess is that it's in the Myrtacae family.
Maybe Baeackea virgata
No flowers

Thanks Damian.
I wondered about Baeckea too.
I just think the foliage might be a little off colour (not green enough?).
Maybe a Baekea linifolia though?
Definitely no flowers on this tree yet.

It looks a little on the sick side, the foliage can take on those colors.
Also if it is new foliage that might explain the coppery tones too
There are two forms of virgata, the dwarf form and the shrub/small tree form.

Could it be a Leptospermum sp.?

Thanks for the replies guys.
Lacertilian I was told from the shop owner that this was not a lepto variety.
The name escaped him at the time - however I had the impression he did in fact know what it was..
I might give him a call today when I get a moment and ask about the Geraldton wax and Beakea suggestions.
Cheers.

Baeckea seemed to ring a bell..
Virgata was his gut feeling and not Linifolia.
Looks like this could be it..
I'll treat it with some care and try to revive some health into this little guy and see if there are any other telling signs as time evolves.
Cheers all.
P.S. If it is indeed a Baeckea I'm pretty damn happy about it as I've been looking for a Beackea specimen for quite some time now!
Funny that it looks like I may have inadvertently bought one!
Cool!

I don't think its the dwarf form then, I bought one the other day and the leaves seem quite a lot smaller and finer then the pics above.
Just my two cents, being a newbie... take it for what it is worth

If it is indeed B.virgata it will develop a nice little lignotuber. Each time you prune it will send out shoots from the base like crazy

As you can see it already does send out shoots from the base like crazy.
I've never heard the word lignotuber before?
I just had a quick look what it means..
I'll get around to posting a progression thread of this little guy.
It's a particularly weird specimen that I'd like to hear some views on..
Cheers,
