Hi.

I have a port Jackson fig that i heve been growing in a tube for six months, and is now ready to be placed onto a rock. I have never attempted this before, but beleve that i have the knolage to attemp this.I know that this time of year is a better time to repot a PJ fig ,so in saying that, then it makes sence to me that this would be abetter time to attempt a root over rock PJ fig.

Am i on the right track or should i wait a month or so?

I live in southern NSW Junee, still a bit of hot weather to be had yet in this region.

Will be placed into a polly box and kept out of the winter frosts as well.

Regards.

If you are having over 30 degrees I would wait - however figs are pretty well bulletproof. I guess the aftercare is more important - the rock will suck moisture away during really hot days.

Hi.
It's still well over 30c even in the shade, were it will be kept. Think I might leave it for a few weeks and have a nother look at things.

Just did my first ROR with fig also and all going fine. It's shaded (at the bottom of the plant stand) but still gets sun and heat.
Kicking along strongly.

I'm in Wagga not far from you and i just repotted my figs and worked a few.
and they have been fine out in the sun ( that was all last week and this week ) Key is to water them .... then water them every day.

best of luck ,

Ps ill be trying some root over rock next year when all my cuttings have aged a bit.
