This is something I started about seven years ago not long after I discovered the joy's of Bonsai. Over this time I have lost a couple of trees from in experience and generally just being a lazy teenager!

I initially had it in a small pot with roughly 20-30mm of soil between it and the pot, which slowed the growth of this substantially.

Nearly a year and a half ago I realised how silly it was to be keeping it in such a small pot

It was then transplanted into a 60L garbage bin and left to grow...

Now I have pulled it out and given it a slight styling.

If there is one tree I intended to keep for my life it will be this one. Any advice or ideas on the future progression of this tree would be greatly appreciated.

bloody good show there Julian we all do the teenager thing and i still do it every now and then

im very new to the Bonsai part of life too but i have just given a new lease of life to my figs that were sticks when i got them, now that they have taken off with flying colours and getting healthy again im just letting them do there own thing for a good year or too then i will start a restyle once i know for sure they have been healthy for a while. thats about the only advice i can really give besides feed them heaps of Dynamic lifter,. i also make a liquid form of feed out of the Dynamic lifter, put 1-2 table spoons of the pellets in a 3ltr milk bottle and fill with water, put the on and give the bottle a shake every day for about 3-4 days and water away, mine love it, if the liquid looks to dark just add more water to the mix. I make mine up in bulk for all my garden so i use a large Wheelie bin that i put a tap on at the bottom, fill up the watering can and away i go with a or 2 while on the job

We've all done the stick in a pot thing, and lost a few trees as well. Looks like you're on the right path now though.

I really like this too. When I read the title I thought oh no, that's a terrible idea! But looking at it, you've actually done a great job capturing the feeling if one of those ancient temples, so I stand corrected. Very cool, can't wait to see this in a few more years.

Dont know how to rotate the pics... They were the right way up when I view them on the computer before.

If there is one thing I really kick my self about its not taking enough photos of this from the get go.

The Cambodian temple theme is sort of the idea but its just trying to get the right proportions and frame the statue correctly.

I hope to get more aerial roots and fatten this guy up a bit!

Yeh I just got it online from Erin Bonsai pots in the UK. Cost me a few bob too many but I was looking for the right one for sometime...

I'm thinking of getting into pot making I really like pots that look handmade and these usually have a price to match! It will be an initial investment buy who knows if I get good enough I might be able to sell some on the side.

Very cool pot, definately like where you're taking it.
