Hi guys

I need some advice on what might be causing patches of live tissue to die on this cotteneaster air layer . It has large wounds that are all healing so there was no major die back just these weird spots are developing . I scratched one and defiantly dead.

I first think enviromental a couple of wich are chops and sunburn. I would need a picture showing the full story to diagnose or eliminate them.

Yea I was thinking sunburn Brett's . I have slowly introduced it into full sun and purposely tried to shade the bare trunk with branches of other trees . It also got a bit dry a few days ago and had wilted leaves . I hope it doesn't die any more .

Ok I would say best bet is it is adjusting to the pruning, this would include extra sun exposure on trunk by leaf reduction. Treat like a cutting. Lots of shade lots of filterd light, lots of drainage lots of water and lots of tonics/fert.

How long was it wrapped up & tied in to the pot? The extra moisture combined with the pressure from the wire (even when cushioned) can cause spots of dieback.
