I'm wondering if anybody has ever tried to work with these as bonsai. I'm guessing they would not work well as the leaves are typically about 8-10 inches long. But I happen to have a few growing in my yard (from my neighbors tree), so I figured I would ask before I just treat them as weeds.

As far as I know, they've not been tried - there are a lot of species with finer foliage that will make life easier in the long run. Acacias can be touchy to dig up, and with repotting - be gentle. Good luck.

Here is a picture just for reference. I've seen some amazing things happen with leaf reduction, but I'm pretty sure this species is beyond hope for bonsai purposes. Maybe I'll give it a go anyway just to see what happens.
