Re: [WANTED] - English Oak Acorns
Hi Mark,
Last weekend I was in Armidale and there were hundreds of them on the ground! I stuffed a few in my pocket and a few are cracking and germinating!! I would suggest finding someone from New England area that would have access to heaps. However I think you may be in the same boat as me, too hot in twba and bris to grow oaks??

Re: [WANTED] - English Oak Acorns
Toowoomba is fine for oaks we get pretty cold in winter and our summers are just mild enough to give nothing worse than a bit of leaf scorch. I have a juvenile English in my garden at the moment, taproot cut and growing on an old dinner plate, just waiting to thicken up.
I would put English and Turkish oaks as some of my favourite trees.

P.S. If you have any Turkish acorns I would be interested in getting them as well.
Thanks

Re: [WANTED] - English Oak Acorns
there are a few around Sydney and some near where I used to live about 5 K's away.
If you cannot find any in the next few weeks then I can have a look for you

Re: [WANTED] - English Oak Acorns
How many kilograms do you want? The main street in Yackandandah is planted with old oaks and the acorns rattle down on the tin roofs like machinegun fire all day at this time of year.
I think its a turkey oak at nearby Osbornes Flat primary school - large leaves and small acorns?
